Today is my darling baby?s 21st birthday, which in the good ole U. S. of A. means that she can legally purchase and/or be served an alcoholic drink.?? Whoo-hoo!? This becomes quite the rite of passage for many people.? It used to be that different states had different legal drinking ages.? Back in the 70s, Illinois had it at 21 and Wisconsin had it at 18, so lots of kids would drive over the border to drink and then drive home drunk.? Not something a mother wants to think about for too long.? In my family of origin, though, drinking was done at home.? The first (and only!) time I got sick from sampling alcohol, I was 10 years old.? My mother made a Greek dinner and my father let me taste Ouzo, retsina, and Metaxa.? I learned how much is too much pretty early.? I also learned that I could get much better alcohol at home than I could at a party with my peers.?? For me, it is all about taste.? My father once educated my children at the dinner table by explaining how alcohol is a solvent that releases fragrance and enhances the taste of food.? What is the primary liquid in fine perfumes?? Alcohol.? The pairing of food and drink is a scientific discovery of pleasure.? Coming from my dad, that seemed to be the ?right? approach, and I think it has served pretty well.? My kids grew up having tastes in increased measures and never became binge drinkers.? My baby had her first taste when she was baptized at two months old.? The priest dipped his finger in the communion wine and let her suck on it.? She was a full-fledged member from that day on.? Why not?
When I turned 21, I was engaged to be married.? My fiance took me out for a champagne brunch after church.? All through my 20s, I was having babies.? I never went to bars and hardly drank at all.? I have no cultural experience of ?the bar scene?, and that amuses Steve no end these days.? I also missed all of the pop music scene from the 80s on.? I am a walking anachronism, it seems.? Oh, well.? I still think I know how to have fun.? I do drink and dance and sing?mostly with family.? Tonight, my kids are going out together to do Broadway karaoke at a gay bar.? Now, I could fit right in with that!? I worked for a children?s musical theater company for 7 years, and my kids were all involved.? We rock the Broadway tunes!? Sadly, though, Mom is not invited.? Not this time, but I hope in the near future.

Hi Guys,
I love your work! It?s great and very entertaining. Cracks me up mad 
I?m not sure if you guys have any experience about relationship dynamics between an Asian and a Westerner. But I?d like some opinions.
My man is from the States and I?m an Asian. Also, he is almost 40 while im in my late 20s. We have been together seven months, going strong and happy.
I asked him before if he is committed and he said he is. He used the term ?all in? which made me very happy indeed. But I am unclear as to what kind of expectations or dynamics does a white guy in general hold towards a lasting relationship. I might have subscribed erroneously to the belief that westerners don?t regard commitment as seriously as Asians would. Can you please tell me the differences between a white man and an Asian man in terms of perspective and expectations for a lasting relationship?
Also, is there any advice for a young lady like me to know about dating an older man? Issues I should look out for perhaps?
I?d just like you to talk about your take on a lasting cross cultural relationships, and compounded with a bigger than usual age gap.

Thanks for your question and for your kind words. We do try.
We think you may be a bit too concerned about the stereotypes you may or may not have heard about ?white? men?let?s say Western men?as opposed to Asian men. Obviously cultural differences factor into every aspect of of a person?s life, but from our experience there are many Western guys who take their commitments just as serious as any guy in the world. Sure, maybe there?s less divorce in Asia?we don?t have exact statistics?but that still doesn?t mean there are more happy marriages or long term partnerships in Asia. It could just mean that more people stay together, whether they?re happy or not.?So we think you need to focus on the individual?your guy? rather than try to understand him from a cultural perspective.
The one cultural phenomenon that you should be aware of is that some Western Guys have a certain ?thing? for Asian ladies. It?s only worth mentioning because we would be remiss if we didn?t mention it, but it?s not something you necessarily need to focus on. It?s a matter of taste. And although that may sound very superficial, men pursue women they?re physically attracted to?at least at the onset. And when that physical attraction is there, men also think about commitment more seriously. It?s a good thing.
Now let?s address your question about your age difference. We?re guessing it?s around a 12 year difference? Is that about right? He?s probably 39 and you?re 27. (How?s our guess?) If this is the age difference then this doesn?t really fall into the category of dating an older guy. If you were in your early twenties that would be a big difference. But since you?re in your late twenties you?ve experienced life without him. You?ve probably been out in the working world, and probably have dated other men. Concerns about dating an older guy come when there?s a striking difference between experience?usually when the difference is creeping towards 20 years?which throws off the power balance. If you find him trying to ?educate? you and treating you like a young girl rather than an equal, now or in the future, that might be a concern and a red flag. But otherwise, no. Candy, if you really love this man and trust that he loves you we don?t see your cultural differences or your age differences being an issue. Of course we can?t look into the heart of this man and tell you for sure that he means what he says, that?s up to you to decide. But when a guys says he?s ?all in? that?s generally a positive sign.

No, there is no personal medical issue, he's never had an STD, and he passed 25 other drug tests in his career, including three others in 2011.
He isn't happy with the initial MLB reaction that he beat the 50-game suspension on PED charges on a sample-collection protocol technicality.
And, he's considering all legal options in light of everything that has made the last four months, 'the biggest challenge I've ever faced in my life.''
This wasn't Andy Pettitte standing before gathered media, admitting he had used human growth hormone, saying he was sorry and asking for forgiveness.
This was Braun vowing during a 25-minute press conference on the field at Maryvale Baseball Park on Friday, "If I had done this intentionally or unintentionally, I'd be the first one to step up and say I did it. I truly believe in my heart, and I'd bet my life that this substance never entered my body at any point.''
So a whole new set of questions needs to be examined.What we have here is a complete reversal in MLB's never-ending PEDs mess. After the game ignored ever-increasing usage from the late 1980s to early-2000s, we've reached the point where players are tied to a testing process in which ? in Braun's words ? they are, "100 percent guilty until proven innocent ? opposite of the American judicial situation."
Not only was Braun's situation wrongly and unfairly leaked to the media by a still-unknown source, even when the hearing produced a not-guilty verdict, the accusers don't want to accept that verdict.
"The system as it was applied to me in this case was fatally flawed," Braun said.
If, as Braun said, "I tried to handle the entire situation with honor, with integrity, with class, with dignity, and with professionalism, because that's who I am, and that's how I've always lived my life," what exactly went on here?
Braun says he knows full well the feeling of being wrongly accused, but nonetheless intimated a possible scenario.
What we do know is that the sample was taken after NLDS Game 1 on Oct. 1 in Milwaukee, along with those of two other teammates. The next 44 hours ? the length of time from when Braun's sample was taken until it was sent by the collector to the lab ? remains in question in the minds of Braun and his handlers.
Why the delay, when Braun says FedEx offices were open until 9:30 p.m. Saturday ? plenty of time after the game that afternoon? And what happened to the sample in that time ? was it stored properly, was it altered in some way at that point? How did he test three times over the allowable limit after passing all those other tests ? including one taken after he received word on Oct. 19 of the positive test result?"There are a lot of things that we learned about the collector, and the collection process that made us very concerned and suspicious about what could have happened," Braun said.
We're likely to find out the answers to all these questions soon enough, of course. But regardless if the sample was tampered with maliciously, or just by the result of human error, Braun's reputation severely has been damaged.
Can he restore it? And don't changes have to be made to the collection process? This situation is far from over, and very well could be a precedent-setter.
"We won because the truth was on my side," Braun said. "I was a victim of a process that completely broke down and failed. Today is about making sure this never happens to anyone else who plays this game."
MLB players better hope so, because another ugly can of worms in the ongoing PEDs saga has been opened ? if Braun's words indeed are true.

The term legal marketing refers to anything that is placed or published by the attorney in any media including the radio, newspaper, television, and any other sources of broadcasting medium. The term has been in lots of discussions that focused about the pros and cons of this term. This marketing is graciously increasing every year. The term enhances public knowledge about the current legal issues that help people know that there are the lawyers who can help them about the legal issues. The publications describe entire legal rights, rules, and regulations to the people. The term serves people in increasing their information and knowledge about the times when it is important take services of a lawyer.
The origins of this term take us the legal system of England, but today, most of the legal marketing belongs to the canon 27 of American?s bar Associations that are normally called the ABA?s. These guidelines were originally written in 1908, which acted like the model rules in between the state and the local bar associations. The rules include multiple things including the lawyer?s information that further includes his address, contact number, the basis of fees, types of his services, the foreign languages abilities, the client?s names, and references. The media were also filtered, so the acceptable media includes the television, radio, newspaper, legal directories and the telephones, the outdoor installation, and any form of the written or recorded media. The lawyers are required to keep these published contents for enforcement in any case.

There were disconcerting hints that last-minute problems might still crop up. Neither Baucus nor Camp would predict whether Congress would approve the legislation by Friday, the original goal. And aides did not distribute summaries of the bill to reporters, which is usually routine when major accords are reached.
Even so, Baucus and Camp ? and a handful of other lawmakers who helped craft the package ? expressed confidence that their work on the roughly $150 billion measure was virtually complete.
"We're moving forward," said Camp, who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee.
The temporary payroll tax cut and extra unemployment coverage initially ran into GOP resistance, some of which lingers.
But Republicans have largely concluded that it would be politically damaging to oppose the package, particularly in this presidential and congressional election year. That contrasted with December, when House Republicans refused to back a bipartisan Senate bill providing a two-month extension of the tax cuts and jobless benefits while bargainers completed a yearlong deal ? only to retreat under barrages of criticism from Republicans and conservatives around the country.

Chief among the late disputes was a proposal to save around $15 billion ? about half the $30 billion cost of the bill's extended jobless benefits ? by requiring federal workers to contribute an additional 1.5 percent of their pay to their pensions.
Democrats, including Sen. Ben Cardin and others from Maryland, home to many government employees, resisted that plan, holding up a final handshake among congressional bargainers. The provision was ultimately changed to target the boost only at newly hired federal workers, requiring them to contribute 2.3 percent of their salaries toward defined benefit pensions.
There was little controversy over the main thrust of the bill.
A 2-percentage-point cut in the 6.2 percent Social Security payroll tax, which is deducted from workers' paychecks, would run through 2012. For a family earning $50,000 a year, the cut saves them $1,000 annually.
Extra unemployment benefits for people out of work the longest would be extended for the same period, and a 27 percent slash in federal reimbursements for physicians who treat Medicare patients would be averted.
Unless Congress acts, the tax cut and added jobless benefits would expire and doctors' Medicare payments would be reduced ? all on March 1.

Besides increasing new federal workers' pension contributions, more savings were supposed to come from government sales of parts of the broadcast spectrum to wireless companies. The spectrum auction was supposed to raise about $15 billion ? even after $7 billion would be spent for a new communications network for emergency workers.
The government's main welfare program would be continued through this year. Republicans won a provision barring welfare recipients from using their electronic cards to withdraw cash from teller machines in liquor stores, strip clubs and casinos.
The $20 billion price tag for preventing the cut in doctors' Medicare reimbursements would be covered partly by trimming a fund Obama's health care overhaul created to help prevent obesity and smoking. Dropped from the final compromise were proposals to renew expiring business tax cuts; a GOP plan to require unemployment recipients to work toward high school equivalency diplomas; and another Republican provision, aimed at illegal immigrants, requiring low-income people to have Social Security numbers before they can get checks from the Internal Revenue Service for the children's tax credit.

BANGKOK (AP) ? Police in Thailand say the third Iranian suspect involved in a series of blasts in Bangkok has escaped into Malaysia.
Immigration police chief Lt. Gen. Wiboon Bangthamai identified the third suspect as Zedhaghat Zadech Masoud.
Wiboon said Wednesday that Masoud boarded a flight from Bangkok's international airport on Tuesday night and arrived in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
He says Masoud is still believed to be in Malaysia.

BANGKOK (AP) ? The bombs discovered in a Bangkok house after a series of blasts in the Thai capital were similar to the devices used against Israeli Embassy targets in India and Georgia, the Israeli ambassador said Wednesday.
While the targets of the bombs was not clear, "we can assume from the other experiences that we were the target," Ambassador Itzhak Shoham told The Associated Press.
Thai police found and defused two magnetic bombs that could be stuck on vehicles after Tuesday' blasts, he said.
"They are similar to the ones used in Delhi and in Tbilisi," Shoham said. "From that we can assume that there is the same network of terror."
Israel has accused Iran of waging a covert campaign of state terror.
Shoham said the arrest of two Iranians in the blasts "again leaves not too much room to assume who was behind it."
A bombing of an Israeli diplomatic car in New Delhi on Monday injured four people, including a diplomat's wife. A similar bomb found under a car in Tbilisi, Georgia, on Monday was defused.
Four Thai civilians were wounded in Bangkok in a series of blasts that began when a cache of explosives ignited at a house, apparently by mistake. One explosion blew off the leg of an Iranian who had fled, carrying what looked like grenades.
A day after the blasts in a residential neighborhood, Thai authorities said they were still investigating possible links. Top security agencies called a news conference Wednesday in which authorities admitted to being caught by surprise and said they had little information about who the alleged attackers were and their possible targets.
National Security Council chief Wichean Potephosree said authorities had not determined if there was any link between the explosions in Bangkok and the events in New Delhi and Tbilisi.
"We haven't found any links but we are still investigating," Wichean said. "We admit there was magnetic component, aiming at individuals, but the origin of the magnets still has to be investigated."
When police searched the house, the bomb squad found and defused two explosives, each made of three or four pounds of C-4 explosives inside a pair of radios.
Wichean said that the types of explosives found suggested that individuals were being targeted.
"From the investigation, we found the type of explosives indicated that the prepared targets were individuals," Wichean said. "Based on the equipment and materials we found, they were aimed at individuals and the destruction capacity was not intended for large crowds or big buildings."
The wounded Iranian was in police custody at a Bangkok hospital. Immigration police detained a second Iranian as he tried to board a flight for Malaysia.
Both men were facing four charges, including possession of explosives, attempted murder, attempted murder of a policeman and causing explosions that damaged property, Prewpan said.
Security forces were searching for a third Iranian suspect.
Israel's Channel 10 TV quoted unidentified Thai authorities as saying the captured Iranians confessed to targeting Israeli interests.
There was no comment from Iranian officials in Tehran.
There seemed to be no doubt in the minds of Israeli officials, who blamed Iran and its Lebanese ally, Hezbollah.
"The attempted terrorist attack in Bangkok proves once again that Iran and its proxies continue to perpetrate terror," Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in Singapore. "The recent terror attacks are yet another example of this."

He also worried about becoming a target for smugglers eager to use the gates for large shipments. They are wide enough for farm equipment.
"Any drug dealer is going to know anyone on this side has a way out," Paul Loop said, while crews harvested cabbage in a nearby field.
Othal Brand Jr., chairman and general manager of the Hidalgo County Water Improvement District No. 3, said he welcomes the completion of the fence even though the district's headquarters is between the barrier and the river.
He said he's optimistic it will help deflect illegal crossings and other illegal activity as intended.
"It's like building a car and only putting three tires on it," he said. "Finish it. Get it done."
